of living a ranching lifestyle. The ranch property was once part of the lucrative Umatilla Gold Mine along the Wells Fargo "Cedar Creek
Trail" during the California Gold Rush. Today the ranch property lies within the prestigious Fair Play American Viticulture Area bordering Amador & El Dorado counties in the Sierra Foothills. Soon realizing the new "gold" in the hills was wine, Karen planted
the original ranch vineyards to organically grown Viognier, Syrah, Petite Sirah & Sangiovese. In 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon was added to the original plantings yielding a
total of 9.5 acres under vine. In 2008 Karen and her
partner Gingerlei began bottling and selling their Estate Grown wines under the Cedar Creek label becoming well-known locally
