Welcome to Cedar Creek Ranch &
Cedar Creek Ranch is an 80 acre property developed by Karen J. Wood to fulfill a lifelong dream of living
a farming and ranching lifestyle. The ranch property was purchased in 1997 and was once
part of the lucrative Umatilla Gold Mine along the
Wells Fargo "Cedar Creek Trail" during the California Gold Rush. Today the ranch property lies within
the prestigious Fair Play American Viticulture Area bordering Amador & El Dorado counties in the Sierra Foothills. Soon realizing the
new "gold" in the hills was wine, Karen planted 7.5 acres of Viognier, Syrah, Petite Sirah & Sangiovese. In
2015, 2.5 acres of Cabernet
Sauvignon was added to the original plantings.
Cedar Creek wines have become well-known locally and nationally for elegant,
aromatic wines with aging ability, balance and focus, true to varietal character. Karen's farming and winemaking practices express
the natural habitat of the ranch & terroir of the climate & minerally soils along the "Cedar Creek Trail."
